Milan, 7 January (LaPresse) – "If there is one lesson this tragedy should teach us, it is hope, because life does not end here. Here there is only a body, my son's body, but his soul is not here." These were the words of Carla Masiello, mother of Giovanni Tamburi, victim of the New Year's Eve massacre in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, as she left St. Peter's Cathedral in Bologna, where the 16-year-old's funeral was held. ‘We must always fight, he is an angel, I am sure of it,’ she emphasised. ‘I want to send a message of love: throw away hatred, never leave anything unsaid,’ she said. ‘Giovanni and I told each other every day how much we loved each other.’ Giovanni told everyone this, he always smiled, so smile, always be strong, I am strong because Giovanni is with me,‘ she added. ’He is not dead, he is just somewhere else and he will always be with me. Probably the Lord, seeing that he was an angel, wanted to spare him the sufferings of life, illness and old age, but Giovanni has not abandoned me and has not abandoned anyone. He is here."
