Rome, 26 January (LaPresse) – "The number of residents of Niscemi affected by the so-called red zone of the landslide, which has kept local, regional and national civil protection agencies busy for over 24 hours, has risen to 1,500. As a precaution, the buffer zone has been increased from 100 to 150 metres, while the landslide has reached four kilometres. From the crisis unit in Rome, I would like to express my sincere thanks, also on behalf of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, to all those, from the prefect to the municipal administrators, law enforcement agencies, fire brigade, technicians and volunteers, who are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of citizens and reduce their inconvenience. I have assured them that the national government will do its part to the fullest'. This was stated by the Minister for Civil Protection, Nello Musumeci, at the end of the Civil Protection Crisis Unit meeting in Rome, which he attended together with the head of department, Fabio Ciciliano.
