Rome, 26 January (LaPresse) – "We are concerned about the rise of anti-Semitism, which cannot be justified by the dramatic problems of unacceptable violence in Gaza and the West Bank. On the eve of Remembrance Day, the Italian Church deeply condemns the resurgence of despicable acts, while reiterating its closeness to all Jewish communities in the country and renewing its commitment to combating such phenomena." These were the words of Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, Archbishop of Bologna and President of the CEI (Italian Episcopal Conference), at the Permanent Episcopal Council meeting that begins today in Rome.
