Rome, 20 February (LaPresse) – Firefighters continue their efforts in the regions affected by the wave of bad weather that began on 11 February. The total number of interventions carried out in Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia has reached 4,141, with 1,064 firefighters and 355 vehicles deployed. In Calabria, despite the orange alert, the situation in the Cosenza area does not currently present any new significant critical issues, while in Cassano allo Ionio the waters have receded and teams from Cosenza and Catanzaro are working to recover property. In Catanzaro, the fire brigade intervened in the historic centre due to the instability of an old building that suffered internal collapses due to bad weather; the road section was closed to traffic as a precautionary measure. A total of 1,141 interventions were carried out in the region. In Sicily, where the activity was impressive with 1,537 operations carried out, attention remains high in Niscemi (CL): in the districts of Sante Croci and Pirillo, instrumental monitoring of the landslide that affected numerous buildings continues, with teams engaged in recovering property from evacuated homes. In Sardinia, 1,463 interventions have been completed, mainly for damage caused by strong gusts of wind in the provinces of Sassari, Nuoro, Cagliari and Oristano.
