Rome, 20 February (LaPresse) – In the “Petrolgate” trial concerning the disposal of waste from oil extraction in Basilicata, charges against Eni have been dropped. In the first instance, Eni had been fined €700,000 and ordered to pay €44.2 million in confiscation for the equivalent of the profits from the crime (a sum from which the costs incurred for the adaptation of the Cova di Viggiano plant had been deducted) for illegal waste trafficking. This was reported by “La Nuova del Sud”. In addition to the penalty imposed on Eni five years ago, all other first-instance convictions have also been dropped.
