Bergamo, 25 February (LaPresse) – The hearing is awaited for Moussa Sangare, on trial for the death of Sharon Verzeni, who was stabbed to death on the night between 29 and 30 July 2024 in Terno d'Isola, in the province of Bergamo. Sangare's lawyer, Tiziana Bacicca, has filed a brief requesting a re-examination of the evidence contained in the case file against her client. The brief will be discussed in court and, at the end, Bergamo public prosecutor Emanuele Marchisio will be able to take the floor to respond or, in the absence of a response, the Court of Assizes, presided over by Patrizia Ingrascì, will meet in chambers to issue its verdict. The public prosecutor has requested a life sentence for Sangare, who is charged with aggravated murder due to premeditation, futile motives and the victim's diminished ability to defend himself. During the closing arguments on 12 January, Giacomo Maj, the defendant's previous lawyer, had requested acquittal on the grounds that he did not commit the crime and that the aggravating circumstances be dropped, taking into consideration the general mitigating circumstances instead. Sangare had asked to leave the courtroom and be taken back to prison: “Here I hear words against me, it makes no sense for me to stay. I have already judged myself innocent”. In the days that followed, his mandate was revoked and he was entrusted to a new lawyer.
