Tram derails in Milan: driver refuses to answer prosecutors’ questions

Milan, 16 March (LaPresse) – The 60-year-old ATM tram driver under investigation for the Tramlink accident on 27 February, in which two people lost their lives and over 50 were injured, has exercised his right to remain silent. The man, summoned today by prosecutors Elisa Calanducci and Corinna Ferrara to give his account of events, decided to exercise his right to remain silent because he is a ‘traumatised person’ who is ‘not in a fit state to undergo questioning, which we will carry out later; we do not wish to hide anything’, his new lawyer, Mirko Mazzali, who was appointed a few days ago, explained to reporters.
