Rome, 26 March (LaPresse) – Maurizio Gasparri, the leader of the Forza Italia group in the Senate, is stepping down. According to sources within the party, the decision will be formalised today during a meeting of Forza Italia senators scheduled for 4.30 pm. The agenda for the meeting, in fact, reads: ‘Resignation of the Group Leader; Election of the new Group Leader’. The decision comes after a letter signed by 14 out of 20 Forza Italia senators effectively calling for Gasparri’s replacement.
