L'Aquila, 3 April (LaPresse) – Police in L'Aquila have executed a pre-trial detention order against an 18-year-old resident of the Teramo area on charges of training for terrorist activities, including those of an international nature, and incitement to commit a crime aggravated by terrorist aims. The investigation, coordinated by the L’Aquila District Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office, established that the arrested man, a member of the ‘primitivist and accelerationist’ strand of anarchism, had provided instructions on the domestic manufacture of firearms and related ammunition, including through the use of 3D printers, and of explosive materials for terrorist purposes aimed at carrying out acts of violence and sabotage against essential public services. The young man is alleged to have published manuals and guides containing detailed instructions for the manufacture of pistols, rifles, ammunition and explosives using methods described by investigators as subversive and violent, identifying targets to be struck—including international ones—such as data centres and American asset management and investment firms, accompanying the publications with images of armed men and proclamations aimed at leading to the actual carrying out of violent acts. The 18-year-old is alleged to have promoted the organisation of attacks against the nerve centres of civil life by virtue of an anarchist and environmentalist fanaticism aimed at the destruction of technological society in order to return to a primitive state, glorifying the ‘deeds’ of Theodore Kaczynski, a primitivist anarchist known as the Unabomber, whom he held up as a role model, inciting others to rebel and join the revolution in favour of the destruction of the current technological and democratic system, accompanying the proclamations with images depicting armed men with their faces concealed.
