Campobasso, Apr. 4 (LaPresse) – “A large portion of the Trigno Bridge has been swept away by the force of the river. The most important issue right now concerns the traffic on this strategic axis, not only for Abruzzo and Molise but for the entire Adriatic corridor connecting the north and south of the country,” said Civil Protection chief Fabio Ciciliano on the sidelines of an inspection following the collapse of the viaduct on State Road 16.
Ciciliano emphasized that “there is damage and traffic is compromised, but fortunately not completely,” recalling the measures taken to ensure connectivity: “I thank the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the highway concessionaire for making tolls free, allowing vehicles to pass from north to south.”
The Civil Protection chief also highlighted the reopening of the bridge on Provincial Road 55, which provides an alternative route after technical inspections. “We need to act quickly,” he concluded, “because this is a fundamental artery, especially with the summer season approaching.”
