Palermo, 10 April (LaPresse) – The two workers who died in Palermo after falling 25 metres when the crane they were working on collapsed did not have valid employment contracts. Daniluc Tiberi Un Mihai, a Romanian national, and Najahi Jaleleddine, a Tunisian national, were working illegally on behalf of the Palermo-based firm Ediltec Costruzioni. This has been established by investigators and confirmed by the victims’ relatives. Neither was registered with the Construction Workers’ Fund (Cassa Edile) or the Craftsmen’s Fund (Edilcassa). Sprtesal investigators are ascertaining whether there was a valid contract between the client (the owner of the flat on the tenth floor at 115 Via Marturano) and the company. Administrative checks show that the company has been inactive since 2016; in other words, it has not reported the start of any construction site work since that date.
