Camorra: attempted murder of boss Lo Russo’s nephew – two arrested

Rome, 2 May (LaPresse) – Carabinieri in Miano di Napoli have executed an arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Naples – Anti-Mafia Directorate (D.D.A.) against two individuals under investigation for complicity in attempted murder and the illegal possession and carrying of a firearm in a public place, aggravated by the use of mafia methods. Specifically, the two are alleged to be responsible for the attempted murder of Vincenzo Lo Russo (nephew of the leaders of the ‘Lo Russo – Capitoni’ clan operating in the northern area of the city of Naples), which took place on 17 April in the Siberia district of the Marianella neighbourhood of the Neapolitan capital. The investigations, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Naples Public Prosecutor’s Office and conducted by the Operational Unit of the Carabinieri Company of Naples Vomero, through technical analysis and the examination of CCTV footage, have made it possible to reconstruct the ambush and the events leading up to it, yielding strong evidence of guilt against the current suspects as the perpetrators of the attempted murder and identifying, as the motive, an old dispute between inmates in prison. During the course of the investigations, despite the victim’s reticence, it emerged that, after being greeted with a kiss by one of her attackers, she was then struck with the butt of a gun and a helmet, assaulted with slaps and kicks, and finally shot several times. The arrest was followed by the issuance of a precautionary measure order against the two individuals arrested and a third member of the gang, who is currently at large.
