Milan, May 7 (LaPresse) – Andrea Sempio is accused of voluntary homicide with multiple aggravating circumstances, including “cruelty” and “base motives,” for having killed Chiara Poggi with “at least 12 blows” on August 13, 2007, in the house on Via Pascoli in Garlasco, driven by “hatred” caused by the “rejection of his sexual approach.” This is stated in the notice of conclusion of the preliminary investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Pavia against the 38-year-old. The four-page document, signed by deputy prosecutor Stefano Civardi and prosecutors Valentina De Stefano and Giulia Rizza, mirrors in full the wording of the charge already contained in the summons for interrogation served to Sempio last Thursday, during which he chose to remain silent. According to the investigations by the Milan Carabinieri investigative unit, he allegedly killed the 26-year-old “after an initial struggle” on the morning of August 13, 19 years ago, striking her “repeatedly” on the head. The victim was allegedly dragged “towards the door leading to the cellar,” where she reportedly tried to react “by getting on all fours.” There she allegedly received another “3-4 blows,” losing consciousness. Sempio allegedly made the body “slip down the stairs” and, despite her being already “unconscious,” he allegedly struck her again “4-5 times,” causing the fatal injuries.
