Cosenza: concrete structure collapses, killing a 23-year-old worker

Rome, 9 May (LaPresse) – A 23-year-old worker died this morning in Paola, in the Cosenza area, whilst working on the renovation of a beach resort. The young man was pulling a reinforced concrete structure intended for the shower area when, for reasons still under investigation, the rope reportedly came loose, causing him to be crushed. There was nothing that could be done for the 23-year-old, of Senegalese origin and a resident at a CAS centre: his injuries proved fatal. Emergency medical services, officers from the Paola police station, the fire brigade and staff from the Labour Inspectorate attended the scene to carry out investigations and assess the circumstances of the accident. The owner of the facility may, as a matter of procedure, be entered in the register of suspects on suspicion of manslaughter.
