Football, Massucci: ‘Postponing the Rome derby to Monday 18th? Common sense’

Rome, 10 May (LaPresse) – ‘Given that we are equipped to handle anything, even difficult events taking place at the same time, it would seem to me to be common sense not to play on the same day as the Italian Open, which has become a global event, an event just as important as the derby’ . This was stated by Rome’s police chief, Roberto Massucci, on the sidelines of the start of the ‘Race for the Cure’ at the Circus Maximus, regarding the possibility of postponing the derby between Roma and Lazio to Monday 18 May to avoid a clash with the men’s final of the tennis tournament. ‘Rome is a city that remains true to itself. Last year we undoubtedly managed the most difficult year in Rome’s history over the last thirty years, but this year is presenting us with new challenges,’ added Masucci, ‘the public is sensitive to what is happening in the world and in the country, and so in our line of work, maintaining public order in Rome is always a major undertaking.’
