Ponte Stretto, Ciucci: ‘Ready to open to traffic in 2034’

Rome, 12 May (LaPresse) – The Messina Strait Bridge will be ready for use in 2034. This was stated by Pietro Ciucci, CEO of Stretto di Messina spa, during today’s first meeting of the company’s board of directors, as he outlined the project’s progress. ‘Taking into account the procedures set out in the ‘Commissari’ decree-law, and the work already carried out and currently underway, it is believed that the approval process can be completed by the end of summer 2026,’ noted Ciucci, "thus enabling the construction phase to begin in the final quarter of the year. The construction schedule for the bridge is set at 7.5 years, with works due to be completed in 2033 and 2034 being the first year of operation for the bridge.”
