Rome, 13 May (LaPresse) – ‘A new military mission requires, first, a genuine ceasefire; second, a legal framework; and finally, parliamentary authorisation’. This was the view of Defence Minister Guido Crosetto on international initiatives to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, speaking at a hearing before the joint Foreign Affairs and Defence Committees of the Chamber of Deputies and the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of the Senate. Crosetto explained that “the truce appears fragile and precarious; it is essential to maintain a serious and responsible agreement both with our international allies and in the relationship between the government and parliament”.
