Modena, mayor: 8 injured, 4 of them seriously

Rome, 16 May (LaPresse) – "There are eight people injured, four of whom are in critical condition (code three), three in a less serious condition (code one), and one in an intermediate condition (code two). Of the four in critical condition, two have been transferred to Maggiore Hospital in Bologna and two to Modena Hospital. One of them is in a very, very serious condition, as they were hit head-on by the car and, sadly, both legs have had to be amputated.” This was the statement made by the Mayor of Modena, Massimo Mezzetti, to Rainews24, regarding the car travelling at high speed that struck several pedestrians near Largo Porta Bologna. “The man then got out of the car brandishing a knife and fled. I must thank the extraordinary courage and civic spirit of four citizens who chased him, tackled him to the ground – one was slightly injured by the knife – captured him and handed him over to the police. He is now at the police station, being questioned,” the mayor added.
