Rome, Delmastro in the Anti-Mafia Committee: ‘I left Caroccia's company after his conviction’

Rome, 26 May (LaPresse) – After learning of the ‘information regarding my hasty departure and the people under my supervision’, because "such a context, which subsequently came to light, is light years away from my upbringing – I won't say ethical, but cultural. From the moment Caroccia was convicted, I left the company‘ that ran the Bisteccheria d'Italia in the Tuscolano district of Rome, ’selling my shares on 3 November". This was the response of the former Undersecretary for Justice and FdI MP, Andrea Delmastro, before the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission at Palazzo San Macuto in Rome, where he chose to answer MPs’ questions without submitting a written statement. Delmastro then added: ‘On 18 February, according to open sources, Caroccia was convicted; by the 27th I was out of the company: as soon as I heard the news, my friends and I made a hasty exit from the company, unconcerned that this would mean the loss of our investment. Caroccia? I met him when I went to eat at his restaurant; before that, I didn’t know who he was,’ concluded Delmastro.
