Vatican City (Vatican), May 27 (LaPresse) – A new appeal against war by Pope Leo XIV at the end of the Wednesday general audience in St. Peter’s Square. “War,” Prevost said, “does not solve problems but worsens them. It does not build security but multiplies suffering and hatred. Where missiles and drones fall, hopes also fall. Homes and places of worship are destroyed, innocent lives are broken. I entrust all peoples wounded by war to the protection of the Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace.” The pontiff then turned his thoughts to Ukraine. “I am following with concern the war in Ukraine, which is experiencing a strong escalation in these days,” the Pope said, expressing his “closeness to those who suffer due to recent attacks also against civilians.”
