Cagliari, June 2 (LaPresse) – A 28-year-old Frenchman, Giovanni Caselli, experienced a frightening ordeal in Sardinia while on vacation on the island for a few days of beach and sightseeing. According to his account to the French newspaper Midi Libre, the man was attacked by a shark while in the water. The young man reported that he had dived in for a workout and subsequently began swimming in the Sardinian waters. “I wanted to make a video with turquoise water and the sunset for my social media. Afterward, I told my wife I was going to do a 500-meter high-intensity swim for my workout,” Caselli told the French newspaper. According to his account, the shark initially approached in a non-aggressive manner, then attacked him, biting him several times superficially. “It attacked me, biting me five times, fortunately only superficially,” he added. The 28-year-old reportedly managed to fight back and reach the shore, while the animal swam away after the initial bites. Caselli sustained minor injuries to one hand, his knee, and his calf, with no further complications.
