Caserta: 12 arrests in connection with a gang specialising in bank and jewellery shop robberies

Rome, 10 June (LaPresse) – Twelve arrests are currently being made by the Caserta State Police Mobile Squad targeting alleged members of the ‘hole gang’, all Italian nationals specialising in raids on banks and jewellers. According to information obtained by LaPresse, the investigation, coordinated by the North Naples Public Prosecutor’s Office, concerns two successful heists in the Caserta area and other failed attempts. Investigators have not ruled out links to the high-profile robbery in Naples on 16 April at the Crédit Agricole branch in Piazza Medaglie d’Oro, in the Vomero district, where a gang dug a tunnel through the sewers to reach the vault and held 25 people hostage.
