Iran, Cecilia Sala's mother: "She is a soldier, but the conditions of her cell must be dignified"

Rome, Jan. 2 (LaPresse) – "I ask for more dignified prison conditions and then strong and significant measures from our country to discuss her return to Italy. I neither cry nor complain about timelines. These are particular realities," said Elisabetta Vernoni, mother of journalist Cecilia Sala, as she left Palazzo Chigi after meeting with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. "Cecilia tries to be a soldier, and so do I, but the prison conditions for a 29-year-old girl who has done nothing wrong must not be ones that will scar her for life," she added. "I will respect the timelines I am told, but the conditions must be such as not to mark a young woman forever." Regarding the timeline, she concluded, "I await more precise updates."
