Constitutional Court: Giovanni Amoroso is the New President

Rome, January 21 (LaPresse) – Giovanni Amoroso is the new president of the Constitutional Court, which convened this morning to elect the successor of Augusto Barbera, whose term ended a month ago. Amoroso was unanimously elected, and judges Francesco ViganĂ² and Luca Antonini were appointed vice presidents.

A judge of the Constitutional Court since November 2017, Amoroso served as vice president of the Court since 2023 and as acting president since December 21. Born in Mercato San Severino (Salerno) on March 30, 1949, Amoroso graduated with honors in law in 1971 from La Sapienza University in Rome, presenting a thesis in political economy on the topic "Exchange Rates and Balance of Payments."

Married and the father of two, he has four grandchildren. His term at the Court will conclude in November 2026.
