Rome, Feb 5 (LaPresse) – "There is only one person today who made the least damaging choice: Giorgia Meloni. That empty chair over there is the smartest thing Giorgia Meloni could have done today because let me remind you of something: Atreju, December 2024. After claiming that the centers in Albania would work—which in itself is laughable—Giorgia Meloni called human traffickers the new mafiosi. She had the 'boss of bosses' in a stadium, took him, and sent him back home. What does this mean politically? It means that from today, Giorgia Meloni can no longer talk about security," said Italia Viva leader Matteo Renzi while speaking in the Senate following the briefing by Justice Minister Carlo Nordio and Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi on the Almasri case.

"Giorgia Meloni has lost face, honor, and dignity because she said she would hunt down mafiosi, yet she released the number one mafioso, sending him back to torture children," the former prime minister emphasized.

"If Delmastro delle Vedove saw Almasri’s résumé, he would probably recommend him for the Department of Penitentiary Administration (DAP), no doubt about it," Renzi added sarcastically.

"Meloni wants to be the fairy godmother, but there’s the 'Butter Man'—the one who leads the cart and takes children away from school to the Land of Toys, where they turn into donkeys. The Butter Man has a sweet, persuasive voice. That’s Giorgia Meloni: you thought you had found the Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher, but instead, you found the Butter Man, Giorgia Meloni—strong with the weak and weak with the strong," Renzi concluded.
