Rai, Opposition to Floridia: "Urgent Convening of the Oversight Commission"

Rome, Feb. 6 (LaPresse) – "The total deadlock in which the Rai Oversight Commission has been stuck for over four months due to the blackmail imposed by the majority—demanding that the opposition vote for their candidate as Rai president and thus preventing a watchdog institution from carrying out its activities—cannot continue any longer."

This was stated by members of the M5S, AVS, PD, and IV parties in the Rai Oversight Commission.

"As opposition members of the commission, we have raised this issue with the presidents of the Chamber and Senate over the past months, as has President Barbara Floridia, whose efforts to maintain a constructive dialogue between the majority and the opposition we have appreciated. However, we acknowledge that these efforts have so far yielded no results. For this reason, we have sent a letter to President Barbara Floridia requesting an urgent and no longer postponable meeting of the Commission. The Rai Oversight Commission can no longer remain a hostage of the majority: we call for an immediate resumption of its work," they concluded.
