Rome, 25 Feb. (LaPresse) – In Ukraine ‘an intervention force cannot be NATO or EU, but only UN’. So said the Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani speaking to journalists on the Transatlantico. ‘If a buffer zone is needed – he adds – troops must be sent under the United Nations flag with a decision of the Security Council and in that case there would also be Italian availability, as there is availability for Palestine, but always under the United Nations flag. As in Lebanon, it could be done in Ukraine’. As for the position expressed by the other Deputy Prime Minister, Matteo Salvini, “he said what we all support – he continues -. The line is shared, not to send Italian soldiers on an EU or NATO mission”.
