Rome, March 15 (LaPresse) – "A splendid square of participation for the Europe we want to build, a federal, united Europe, a Europe that faces its challenges together. We, as the Democratic Party, are here with a federalist spirit that refers to the Ventotene Manifesto, which wants to challenge nationalism, overcome unanimity, those vetoes, and national selfishness that have always held back the European project, which must move forward. And it must also see an effort of solidarity, with a new large plan for common European investments, a new Next Generation EU. We are thinking about the fundamental values on which Europe was born, the value of social justice, solidarity, and a just peace. This is the spirit with which the PD participates with great pleasure, together with all these people, united in the idea that Europe must finally become a political Europe." This was stated by the Secretary of the PD, Elly Schlein, as she arrived at Piazza del Popolo for the "Una piazza per l'Europa" (A Square for Europe) demonstration.
