Rome, 29 Mar. (LaPresse) – ‘I was very astonished by the interpretation many people gave to my interview with the Financial Times. They said it was scandalous that Meloni claims to be with Trump and against Europe. I said something very different, that I am always with Italy, which is in Europe, and that Italy must work to strengthen or defend the unity of the West, which is a very precious asset to be dismissed lightly’. So said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, speaking at the Action congress taking place in Rome. ‘I think it is my responsibility and that of Italy to do what I can to defend this unity, to rebuild it if necessary,’ the premier added. ‘Of course, there are divergences on the table, starting with tariffs, but also for this we must not react on impulse but in a reasoned way, seeking a point of balance.
