Rome, 31 Mar. (LaPresse) – Border security ‘is a priority that Italy and the United Kingdom share and that represents a fundamental point of bilateral cooperation between our nations, because we are both convinced that our freedom, prosperity and the well-being of our peoples depend on security’. This was stated by the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, in a video message at the ‘Border Summit’ convened by the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, to take stock of the fight against illegal immigration. ‘With Keir,’ Meloni emphasised, ‘we agree that border security also and above all depends on the management of migratory flows and the fight against mass illegal immigration. A global phenomenon, which particularly affects Europe, inside and outside the EU borders. This is why our governments have been working together for some time to defeat the criminal organisations that profit from people's desperation and legitimate desire for better living conditions’.
