Rome, April 6 (LaPresse) – “The images you see above don't need much explanation. They are just a part of the comments, memes, photomontages and sexist insults that have been raining down on me in recent days”. This is how a post on social media begins, with which the president of the Umbria Region, Stefania Proietti, denounces the “hatred, vulgarity, gratuitous aggression” she has received from various users on her profiles on different social networks. Among the screenshots published, there are also those in which threats appear. The president's complaint, however, does not stop at the web. When interviewed by LaPresse, she declared: “Tomorrow morning I will go and report everything to the Postal and Communications Police”. “After weeks – she added – I have decided to report this for all the young women and for all the women who want to be in politics. They mustn't think they are in the wrong place”. Proietti specified: “I will ask for compensation, to be donated entirely to charity”.
