Trump wants Italy to buy weapons and gas from the United States. We say no to all of this: we want to save the European Green Deal, and if resources need to be found, they should come from useless projects like the bridge over the Strait of Messina, and be used instead to finance Italian businesses,” said AVS MP Angelo Bonelli to reporters near Montecitorio.
“These are the consequences of the nationalism and the right-wing government leading our country. I’d like to remind the Prime Minister—who speaks of 14 billion euros in reallocations from the NRRP, 11 from the Development and Cohesion Fund, and 7 from the Social Climate Fund—that those funds are meant to build schools, hospitals, and sustainable infrastructure, not to increase military spending. It’s clear that Giorgia Meloni is against the Green Deal, against the ecological transition that would help Italian families pay less for energy. Instead, she is preparing to buy expensive American gas and to accept the idea of allocating 5% of GDP to arms spending, as Trump demands,” he added.
