Milan, April 11 (LaPresse) – After the decision of the Consulta, which rejected the electoral law of Campania that would have allowed Vincenzo De Luca a third term, "from a legal point of view, the case is closed. The political issue remains because the disparity of treatment is evident and has no justification." This was stated by the president of the Veneto region, Luca Zaia, in an interview with Corriere della Sera. When asked if the Court's decision angered him, he replied: "Absolutely not, honestly I did not expect a twist, I have seen many things, but I find this all-Italian model hypocritical, where term limits only apply to some regional presidents and some mayors." On the Trentino matter, where Lega politician Fugatti passed a law that will allow him a third term, he commented: "I am happy for him. And I hope that Fedriga in Friuli-Venezia Giulia (an autonomous region) will also have this opportunity. But the political issue is clear." When pointed out that the government could challenge the Trentino law, he responded: "If that happens, it would be a serious political mistake. I hope they don't do it." On the future of the region he has governed for three terms: "It is not lèse-majesté to ask that Veneto remain Lega-led."
