Milan, 29 April (LaPresse) – ‘Work-related deaths are a scourge that shows no sign of stopping’. This was said by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, visiting the BSP Pharmaceuticals company in Latina on the occasion of the Labour Day celebrations. 'It is clear that the commitment to safety at work needs to be strengthened. It concerns institutions, companies, workers. I thank CGIL, CISL and UIL for having chosen safety and health in the workplace as the theme of a united First of May. In two days we will celebrate the symbolic date of 1 May: Labour Day. Work that cannot consign us to death, but is both an indicator of development, an engine of progress, and a tool for realising oneself as a person. Work can never be separated from the idea of the person, from the irreducible uniqueness and dignity of every woman and every man,' he added.
