Middle East, Cdm extends state of emergency for Gaza: another 2.5 million allocated

Rome, 9 May (LaPresse) – ‘The government has decided, on the proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani and following a report by the Minister for Civil Protection Nello Musumeci, to extend the state of emergency in the Gaza Strip for 12 months, as a result of the events taking place in that territory, in order to allow the continuation of assistance to the population concerned, which is in a dramatic situation, with a shortage of food and necessary care, and no prospect of the restoration of healthcare facilities.’ This was announced in a statement explaining that the government has also ’supplemented the previous allocation of 5 million euros with additional resources amounting to 2.5 million euros. The measure is also necessary to transfer patients to countries where they can receive the necessary care, especially people, often children, suffering from serious illnesses that cannot be treated and cared for locally. The resources will come from the National Emergency Fund.
