Milan, May 13 (LaPresse) – Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had a phone conversation today with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. According to a statement from Palazzo Chigi, "In light of Turkey's willingness to host peace talks between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul, the two leaders discussed diplomatic prospects and reiterated their support for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine."
The statement continues, "Meloni thanked President Erdogan for Turkey's commitment to a negotiated solution to end the conflict and reiterated the expectation that Russia, like Ukraine, will respond positively to the invitation for high-level talks and accept a total and unconditional ceasefire for 30 days as a concrete sign of willingness for peace."
