Turin, May 20 (LaPresse) – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni "had a phone conversation today with the Holy Father regarding the next steps to build a just and lasting peace in Ukraine," according to a statement from Palazzo Chigi.
"The conversation followed yesterday’s call with President Trump and other European leaders, during which the Italian Prime Minister was asked to verify the Holy See’s willingness to host the negotiations," the statement continues. "Upon receiving confirmation from the Holy Father of the Vatican’s readiness to host upcoming talks between the parties, the Prime Minister expressed deep gratitude for Pope Leo XIV’s openness and his tireless efforts in favor of peace."
