Rome, 23 May (LaPresse) – ‘These days, there is a lot of talk about flawed investigations, trials to be redone, even possible cover-ups. Case after case, each in its own way, continues to tell the story of Italy. Its shadows of yesterday, its truths of today; the things that have always been left unsaid. How it changes over time. And how, unfortunately, it too often remains the same.’ This was written on social media by Ilaria Cucchi, senator for the Green and Left Alliance and sister of Stefano. "Today, one of those never-ending cases resumes in the courtroom. It is one of the chapters, the umpteenth, of the Cucchi trial – the one in which the chain of command is under indictment. In a few days, on Monday, it will be time for the court to sit once again. The Court of Appeal will rule on the members of the Carabinieri who have already been convicted in the first instance for obstructing the investigation. I will be there with my heart for my brother, my mother and my father. As a survivor of justice. We will be there together, once again in front of those words: “The law is the same for everyone”. Thinking of all the suffering that has been inflicted on a family over the last sixteen years, a family that, despite everything, has never stopped believing in those words. I really hope it will be a day of truth. For Sté, for us. And for all those who are fed up with flawed, compromised and misdirected investigations. Because that is not the Italy we want to talk about anymore.
