Rome, June 5 (LaPresse) – "I am absolutely against halving the time required to obtain citizenship. The citizenship law in Italy is excellent and, in fact, very open. For quite some time, we have been among the European countries that grant the highest number of citizenships each year.

What’s different is streamlining the bureaucratic process once someone is already entitled to citizenship: that is something we care about and are working on. But I will not support the referendum aimed at reducing the residency requirement for foreign nationals in Italy to five years," said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during the second edition of ‘Il giorno de La Verità’ at Palazzo Brancaccio in Rome.
