Rome, 14 June (LaPresse) – ‘Iran's uranium enrichment process is nearing completion, and this has triggered a confrontation that has been anticipated for years.’ This was stated by Defence Minister Guido Crosetto in an interview with Tg1. ‘It is dramatic and the escalation must be stopped,’ he added. ‘If Iran does not guarantee that it will renounce nuclear weapons, it will be impossible for the entire international community to stop Israel, because it considers this a prerequisite for its survival.’ ‘I have always said that the Middle East was my greatest concern, even more than Ukraine,’ the defence minister continued, ‘and that Iran's move towards the atomic bomb would certainly lead to conflict in the region because Israel would never accept Iran having such a weapon.’
