Middle East, PD-M5S-AVS leaders: ‘Government must revoke military cooperation with Israel’

Milan, June 21 (LaPresse) – “We will not allow Italy to be stained by the cowardice of Meloni and her followers. This morning, we submitted a joint motion – with our leading signatures – to request the revocation of the memorandum of understanding with the Israeli government in the military and defense sectors, as well as the suspension of all forms of military cooperation with Israel. We will not look the other way – this massacre will not continue in our name.”

This was stated in a joint note by Angelo Bonelli (AVS), Giuseppe Conte (M5S), Nicola Fratoianni (AVS), and Elly Schlein (PD).

“For a week now,” they emphasize, “the hostilities between Israel and Iran have drawn the attention of global public opinion, diverting focus from the crimes against humanity taking place in Gaza and from Israel’s colonial annexation plans in the West Bank.

AVS, M5S, and PD have repeatedly urged the Meloni government – entrenched in silent complicity with Netanyahu’s criminal policies – to promote, at the European level, a request for sanctions against the Israeli government for its systematic violations of international law.

Faced with the massacre of tens of thousands of civilians, however, the Meloni government has limited itself to a few token words, avoiding any concrete action that would hold Netanyahu accountable.”
