Rome, 23 June (LaPresse) – "Act urgently and make every effort, within the European Union and all multilateral forums, in particular at the United Nations, to stop the war between Israel and Iran and resume the diplomatic and negotiating process, preventing consequences of incalculable and potentially devastating proportions and an escalation of the conflict on a regional and global scale; to clearly affirm, including at the European Council, that following Trump's attack on Iran, it will not participate in military action nor allow its territory to be used to provide support for a war that the international community must stop; ‘to place Italy at the forefront of the construction of a genuine common European defence, rather than the uncoordinated rearmament of national armies, expressing the clear political will to move forward with the creation of a defence union, starting with forms of enhanced cooperation or differentiated integration between Member States’. These are some of the commitments contained in the PD resolution to be voted on after Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's statements ahead of the European Council.
