Rome, July 2 (LaPresse) – Won’t you attend the Strega Prize ceremony?
"I’m going to Berlin, I’ll settle for Berlin. As far as I know, the 'Friends of Sunday' usually receive the books related to the Strega Prize, they read them – as I did when I was considered one – and then they cast their vote. I note that I have been invited to the Strega Prize evening, they were very kind, but I haven’t received any contact or any books.
It’s a bit strange to attend the Strega Prize night without having received the books. Faced with this, my comment – and it’s a joke – is: it seems they now consider me an ‘enemy of Sunday’.
I’ll devote myself to seeking European funding for culture by meeting my German counterpart in Germany."
This is how Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli responded to reporters in the Transatlantic Hall after the question time session.
"I am not a juror, I have no juror status. Apparently, I no longer have any status at all, but you’d have to ask the Bellonci Foundation about that. I might just buy the books for the pleasure of reading them, because I do enjoy reading. Until last year, I used to receive them. Never mind, I’ll buy them – it’s not a problem," he added.
