Milan, 18 July (LaPresse) – "The right to a fair trial has nothing to do with this. I am not calling for his resignation because of the legal proceedings, I said that this “Save Milan” is a “Save Sala” initiative: the Sala administration must prove it has the majority on urban planning. If it does not have a majority on an issue that is fundamental for Milan, it must face the consequences'. This was the comment made by Senate President Ignazio La Russa, on the sidelines of a meeting in the Lombardy Region, commenting on the urban planning investigation involving the Milan administration. “I have nothing to say about the judicial initiative,” continued La Russa. Remember when that little law came to the Senate that they wanted to vote on and called “Save Milan”. I said that this is not a Save Milan but a Save Sala council. After that statement, the law did not pass. But it did not pass because I said so. Behind that bill, there was no majority of those who support the Milan council. If they don't agree, they are responsible for the council, they can't hope to find external support. When I say that the council is inadequate, I am not referring to the judicial situation. A majority that is not a majority on issues such as urban planning in Milan has no reason to exist. The PD is divided, more or less. The Greens are against it and the others are so-so'.
