Rome, 26 July (LaPresse) – "We acknowledge Giorgia Meloni's rare gesture of consistency: she has taken off her mask and said in no uncertain terms that the Palestinians currently have no right to recognition of their own state. After her stammering at the UN and while continuing her complicit silence on Netanyahu's genocidal massacre, the prime minister explains to the press – but without showing her face in front of the cameras – that the recognition of a Palestinian state would be “counterproductive” today and that “this is not the time”. And what excuse does she offer to justify this miserable thesis? The absence of a state, of a territory in which the Palestinians are sovereign architects of their own existence. A cowardly excuse that ignores the systematic plan of extermination and deportation with which the Israeli government sabotages solutions that move towards the principle of two peoples, two states. It is the cowardly justification of those who close their eyes to the violent expansion of Jewish settlers in the West Bank to the detriment of Palestinian villages, sponsored by the Israeli army in the silence of the international community. It is yet another act of subservience to the war criminal Netanyahu. This was written on Facebook by the leader of the M5S, Giuseppe Conte.
