Rome, July 29 (LaPresse) – "I am attached to a different idea of American conservatives. Let’s be honest, if Kamala Harris had won, we might have had fewer problems because there would have been more continuity with past traditions." This was said in an interview with La Stampa by the Environment Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, who added about the tariff agreement: "It is a compromise. Trump acts in America’s interests; we and Europe have done everything possible within the given conditions to protect our own interests."
"When trying to reach an agreement, a middle ground must be found. Perhaps it was objectively difficult to do more," Fratin said.
"Since it is a tariff on European exports, it is effectively an additional tax that adds to another very sneaky tax — one that is seldom mentioned — which is the devaluation of the dollar over recent months. This has caused a further price increase of 13 to 14 percent," he added.
