Rome, Aug 2 (LaPresse) – "If only countries considered safe were allowed to vote at the UN, very few would remain." This is what Justice Minister Carlo Nordio said in an interview with 'Repubblica.' Jokes aside, is this a slap?
"I wouldn't say so," replies the Minister of Justice. "The ruling recognizes as legitimate what we have done: that is, designating a third country as a 'safe country of origin' through a legislative act."
But the judges have the final say.
"However, that review must be effective and well-reasoned. The judge must verify the reliability of the information on which they base their decision, and provide adequate motivation. And this cannot be said to have always happened. This is not a detail," Nordio insists.
