This is what President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, wrote in a message sent to the Mayor of Genoa, Silvia Salis, reaffirming that "in commemorating the victims of the Morandi Bridge, the Republic joins in the sorrow of their families." According to the Head of State, "The collapse of the Morandi Bridge marked a severe reminder of public and private responsibilities concerning infrastructure safety. A turning point away from practices that led to such a disaster."
