Milan, August 21 (LaPresse) – “Yesterday I was at Palazzo Marino for work meetings. I delegated the Deputy Chief of the Local Police to represent me at the Committee for Order and Security, which traditionally takes place every Wednesday. No mention was made there of any eviction order regarding the Leoncavallo social center. For such a sensitive operation, there were many ways—besides the Committee—to inform the Milan city administration. None of those were used. I received the news this morning from the prefect,” said Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala in a statement regarding the eviction of the Leoncavallo social center.

“The intervention at Leoncavallo was scheduled for September 9. Based on that official timeline, the City had continued discussions with the Leoncavallo representatives to bring the center’s activities into full legality. As reported by several newspapers, various legally compliant solutions were being considered to achieve that goal,” Sala emphasized.
