Rome, 31 August (LaPresse) – Conclude the parliamentary commission's investigation into sexist websites “by the end of the year”. This is the deadline set by the commissioners after photos and videos of women were published on websites and platforms without their knowledge. 'We have set ourselves a tight deadline. The bureau will meet on 9 September, but we have already all spoken and there is cross-party agreement on the need to investigate an issue that was already there, but on social media and gender-based violence there is a new dimension today,‘ explains the chair of the commission, Martina Semenzato. ’There are several bills already tabled, and the commission can be the place to synthesise them. Some regulations also need to be updated. It is not that there are no crimes and penalties, for example, revenge porn is not updated on photos manipulated with AI'.
